14 days ago we received our offer- one month to the date of when we listed it! We countered, countered again and about 5 more times before we came to an agreement. This past week was our inspection.... and to my extreme surprise, in lieu of making any of the repairs, they asked for our kitchen table and chairs. CRAZY!!! We really didn't want to have to credit them any more because we already settled on a low price. So this is an exceptional option for us! The table and chairs were bought in our first house. 9 years ago! Because of a huge billing mistake that even the store couldn't straighten out when I brought it to their attention, we got the set for a fraction of it's cost. Greg loves the tall table and chairs, but we can find another set again for MUCH cheaper than I'm sure we can negotiate on the repairs.
I have been rereading the book Sun Stand Still and while going through all these negotiations and counter offers and bargaining back and forth, I was in the thick of reading about how when living in God's will and plan for your life and living with audacious faith, it can be costly. But that God will protect you and honor your sacrifices. I truly believe that is what has given us peace throughout this process. Moving at this time, during this economic crisis, is not the most ideal situation, but God has proven over and over again His provision. It's awesome to be in my shoes right now. I'm not going to lie- I'll look back on this time and get goosebumps remembering how God graciously supplied our every need and gave us strength through the tough times.
Tonight a group of friends and youth students came over for a totally impromptu game night. We started by playing Rummikub ( so much fun) but then THE COOLEST thing happened. A guitar came out and we all just knocked out some amazing worship songs. Seriously, I will never forget that genuine time. I'm going to miss these wonderful people so much. Each and everyone of them have impacted my life to a degree that I know I'll still be talking about them in the years to come.
God is good.
Yay! The kitchen table (while nice) will be an easy thing to replace. So happy that you've found a buyer!
