What can happen in a short 2.5 hours you ask? And in a kindergarten class? A WHOLE LOT !!!! I routinely put Kaylen on the bus today and waved her off to just another day at school… or so I thought. Today was her teacher’s birthday so I gave her a gift card to a get herself a massage at a local salon & spa. Kay took in the said gift card with one of her balloons from her party this weekend. The teacher opened the gift after she shared cupcakes and popsicles with the class. How sweet and crazy is that all in one? I mean it’s nice that she celebrated with them, but to give two sugary treats to a high energy class just seems like as dangerous as setting a bottle of vino in front of an exhausted mommy- not that I know what that’s like or anything. Anyways, the teacher said “oh, I’m going to get my massage today.” Kaylen said that a rather vocal boy then told her (kay) “my mom got a baby in her belly after a massage- maybe she needs a baby too.” At this point, I’m choking on a bite of banana that we were sharing. I had no response. Oh. My. Word.
So then, as one may expect, I was asked the BIG QUESTION. “How does God make babies? Like how does he put them together? I didn’t know he rubbed your back.” At this point, the banana (what was left of it) was spit out. Where do I go from here? In an attempt to distract having to answer that demented view of everything I know, I fidgeted around and started cleaning up, put dishes away, etc. Luckily Kay is easily distracted. She saw my Zappos box that was delivered and started opening that and asking all about my order. Thank you baby Jesus for having that box delivered and in the right spot at the right time!!!!!!
Tomorrow SHOULD be a boring day... releasing some butterflies. Dear Jesus, please keep it simple. Amen.
When my older girl was that age, she asked that question and we told her simply that the daddy and mommy have a special seed that they plant in the mommy. We left it at that and only realized two years later that G thought baby seeds came from Lowes or Home Depot.
